It is definitely the Floating Bath man. He owned it (or a share of it) and it is mentioned in his (PCC) Will. There are newspaper ads announcing its sale in 1843 as a consequence of his death.

I can't check certain facts, Lancashire Library, British Library Newspapers have not been giving a very good service these past couple of weeks.

thanks for all your work. That clears up why it come to be there.
The stone goes right down into the ground next to the big tree which was probably gone up after the stone was moved there.
I haven't found any family trees on ancestry to link to a direct ancestor but maybe one day someone will come across this by searching and it might be of interest to them. It's stuck inbetween 2 properties, and the tree would need to be dug out for it to be taken out. hopefully whatever development 23 aigburth rd will come to be, won't require getting rid of it but you never know these days.
