Definitely worth considering Bert's suggestion, you may know whether they were the names of the children anyway.

Have you checked the birth indexes for them? I'm having difficulty finding them.

I did wonder about a previous marriage for one or the other, if a first marriage didn't work out but with no divorce, perhaps they weren't able to marry until they were free.

hi many thanks for your help, I have viewed birth cert of one of their children evelyn and the parents are the same but still no marriage which I find strange for that date period unlike today
