Ahh thanks for that! Thought it may be something like that
I have someone doing that too!
Yes heavy thought indeed but I think most of us will be here due to the twists and turns of fate
Thanks for the reply

Is it possible to contact Gareth Fletcher? I am the daughter of Robert (Bob) Fletcher ( DOB 13/12/11), eldest brother of Stella Bewley ( Ne Fletcher). Although first cousins, Gareth and I have never met although I know that he and his sister (Christine Stella?) are the children of Alfred Fletcher, Bob's youngest brother. There was also another brother-Raymond Fletcher. Bob Fletcher went to Australia in 1926 at the age of 14 yrs- he was a 'Barnardo's boy', although not an orphan, his parents being Alfred and Eliza Fletcher. He returned at the age of 21 around 1932. Thank you. I believe that Gareth is a member of the forum and am hoping that he's sees my request for contact. I have tried to find him and/ or his sister over the years to no avail, and came across his forum requests by chance. Joss

A thread almost as old as the ancestors themselves! But, earlier on I gave an extensive update of all the Johnston children, all the brothers and sisters of Stella's mum. As I put, we had basic information (Birth, Marriage Death) on them all except brother Andrew Johnston (1892-????) and his wife Mary Catherine Hollis (widowed, formerly Robinson). It was quite an awkward one to uncover so I thought I'd share the whole process a bit!
I found Andrew alone in the 1939 Register, but with his wife at the same address in the 1935 Electoral Register. I eventually found her in hospital in 1939, (with her date of birth out by 11 years, one year on the form but mistranscribed to get 11 years, Mary without the "Catherine"). She would have to be there a long time to explain her absence from the electoral roll! - After then nothing!
And behold, Ancestry bring out the Liverpool electoral rolls. A good fish around those for 1945 revealed at 23 Royden Street one Andrew Johnston, a Mary Robinson and a William Robinson. This has to be the right Andrew Johnston because he's living with her parents. Later Mary is back (without the "Catherine") they are with just her father, then by 1965 without either of her parents.
Interestingly in the 1939 register Andrew's name is later appended with the middle name 'Thomas', which he certainly didn't have at birth and doesn't appear on any of the electoral register entries. I can't find them in 1970 so I send for the death certificate of one Andrew T Johnson (The 't' from Johnston has gone for a bit of a wander!) d. 1967. And behold, that's the one! I can see that because the address is 23 Royden St! Mission accomplished! There's a death of a Mary Johnston in 1966 (has the T but no middle name), so I sent for that also... and it's the one!
The next challenge, (hopefully a little easier) is to find out where they are buried! A half day in Central library pursuing that and other things to follow: My bet is Allerton Cemetery, but we'll see!
Well done for tying up your loose ends, all the extra databases being brought out online are a great help.
