Whilst recently undertaking research on the Smallshaw family, I came across an address on the 1901 census for Peter Howard, b. 2 May 1867.
The address appears to be 141 Burtons / Burstows Lane or perhaps none of the above!
Any assistance to decipher appreciated.
I did find a page pointing to the 1901 A-Z of Liverpool but unless I wasn't looking hard enough, I didn't find anything there.
Nearby addresses are Ribblers Lane (still exists) and what looks like Cat Tail Lane (there is one in Southport).
Thanks in advance for any constructive advice.

Re: Unable to decipher Kirkby address on 1901 census
I have a 'Geographia' road map of south Lancs, 1930s, which has Ribbler's Lane and Cat Tail Lane, in undeveloped land south of what was Kirby Park railway station and east of Aintree racecourse.
Burton's Farm is marked at the junction of Ribbler's Lane and Little Tithe Barn Lane, with Burton's Bridge on the south side of Ribbler's Lane. The bridge seems to cross 'Little Brook'. Just to the west of all this is a large green area shown as Recreation Ground. Farms are marked and pubs (of course) but few other houses.
If you send me a personal message with an email address I'll scan the piece of the page - the book is getting decrepit, like its owner!

Re: Unable to decipher Kirkby address on 1901 census
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Although I don't know Burton's Lane, I'm sure the guys are right, very many roads as Kirkby grew were named after Farms and families who had lived there before, a lovely way to remember the families no longer living there, Westheads, Shacklady etc.
I've asked on a local Facebook group if anybody has a map with Burton's Lane actually named on it, will come back to you if one pops up.

Re: Unable to decipher Kirkby address on 1901 census
Result from somebody who knows a great deal about the old maps of Kirkby.
Cat Tail Lane was formerly Brook Lane and now known as Bewley Drive so Brook Lane, Tithebarn Lane and Ribblers Lane where all connected at one time but changed over the years and can't find a reference to Burton's Lane so i wonder if Ribblers Lane is former Burton Lane as Burton's Farm sits on the lane.
1829

1840 not named as Burtons Lane but as Rulers Lane

1949 - look around the bottom left square
