Mary Ann Johnson, Fairclough Lane, Edge Hill, Liverpool

I am searching for my Great Grandmother Mary Ann Edwards born circa 1867 Liverpool who married John Bradney Johnson in 1887.(Have marriage certificate and census records after her marriage). Her father was Thomas Edwards a Mariner. On one of the censuses she has her sister Sarah Jane b. circa 1874 at Liverpool living with her. Sarah’s baptism states her mother’s name as Ruth. There is also another sister Ruth born circa 1877 at Liverpool. Can’t find out any more about Mary Ann prior to her marriage, don’t know who her mother is. Would be grateful for any help. Also is there a record of Mariners that I could search to get a bit more information about Thomas Edwards. Did they have a seamans books with information about home and family. Have had DNA done which states that I am 53% Irish. To date have found no Irish ancestors hoping Mary Anns line has the Irish connection. Thanks for any help provided.

I think they got that mixed up. At the start they say Ruth Edwards was assaulted, at the end they say Livingston was struck on the eye. Oh dear !! Confused now.

With Ruth also living with relatives in 1881 suggests mother Ruth can't look after them or has died, she has by 1891, Thomas declares himself a widower.

Possible for Mary Ann, 1881, working as a servant, correct age.
