Joseph Isaac Mackereth
Hi, I am looking for any information about Joseph Isaac Mackereth and hoping another member might be looking for him as well. His birth was registered on 27th November 1906. The registration district was West Derby (sub district-Everton South, county of Liverpool). His birth date was 14th October 1906, the fathers name is not on the birth certificate. At the time of his birth his address was 6 Georges Terrace Alma Street.
His mother was called Margaret Mackereth and she was a domestic servant nurse, her middle name was Ellen and she married in 1908 to August Ferdinand Forsbom. We think he came from Finland but not sure if he is the father of Joseph.
In the 1911 census Margaret is living at 43b Canterbury Street, Liverpool, she has her mother living there also, her name was Mary Polland. We think Margaret Mackereth also had her brother living there and he was called George Polland. There is also a Harold Forsbom who we think must be a younger brother of August Forsbom. We think Margaret was born in 1887.
I would love to hear from anyone who knows anything of Joseph Isaac Mackereth.
Thank you, Val

Re: Joseph Isaac Mackereth
One thing I would suggest is that you put forward the name in our Members Interest Directory, I did a check but nobody else appears to have entered this name. This search is in the Members Area of our Society website.
As there was a year or two between the birth of Joseph and the marriage of his mother, my thinking is that he wouldn't be the father, although after all this time and nobody living to be able to tell the truth, the only way to know for certain is to possibly link with others via a DNA test.
With unusual names like those I would spread your interest as much as possible as search engines will pick up this post at least if anybody else does a google search for them. Do you also use Facebook? There are a number of Liverpool Groups on there, including our own, where you could post those names and gain wider coverage.
I will detail below for our helpers interest the 1911 census, as I also believe the mother's name isn't Polland but POLLARD as I have found a marriage in December Q 1899 for Mary Mackereth to Elias Pollard, reference W. Derby 8b 1032, however that doesn't make her son George Pollard easy to find as he would have been born before that date, if the age given on the census is accurate. I wonder if you know Mary's maiden name before she was married as that might help pin him down in the GRO indexes.

Re: Joseph Isaac Mackereth
I had found the same entry for George, so wondered about Bell, but hadn't worked it back that far. I think the clincher might be his marriage, they seem to have been RC.

Re: Joseph Isaac Mackereth
Hi Mary, Bert and Alison, Thank you all so much for all the wonderful feedback you have given me on Joseph Isaac Mackereth. I couldn't believe my eyes when so much information came back so quickly. It is going to take a little while to check out all you have sent. I will put forward the name on Members Interests now that I have the user name and password. Thank you for your advise Mary. I'm not on Facebook though my family keep telling me to join, perhaps now I know there are a number of Liverpool groups out there I should perhaps you could tell me how I find you on it. DNA! yes a possibility but quite expensive, I did look on Ancestry about it. Perhaps a birthday present from one of my children!
Sorry Bert, I forgot to put my member number on my request for information (8721) have only just come back to the Liverpool & South West Lancashire Society so doing my best to get back into it. I won't forget in future. Thank you for all your help.
Thank you Alison for the information on the Marriage of Mary Mackereth and Death and Obituary of Robert Mackereth. Looks as if I will be sending for a few certificates shortly.
I am really intrigued by Roberti and Mariae Mackereth and family could they be Spanish or Italian I wonder if so they could e Catholic. Can't wait to find out.
Once again, thanks to all of you, your help is much appreciated. I will be in touch again.
Val.

Hi Val,
Membership number? not guilty as charged
Robert and Mary were British, the catholic church Latinised their names for their records.

Re: Joseph Isaac Mackereth
I transcribed those details from St Francis Xavier's Catholic Marriage Register exactly as I saw them, as Bert says, the priests liked to "latinicise" christian names, which is one reason why we don't search the RC registers for normal first names.cooper+12345 wrote: I am really intrigued by Roberti and Mariae Mackereth and family could they be Spanish or Italian I wonder if so they could e Catholic. Searching http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/ the resulting location for the marriage gives
West Derby, Register Office or Registrar Attended.
This could mean either an RC or Non Conformist Church marriage or a Register Office job. Unfortunately the marriage in 1899 isn't listed in the RC marriages (we are very lucky for Liverpool records in that Ancestry has an abundance for us), so this could mean it's possibly in a church that would need searching on microfilm and with no clue as to which one, there are over 20 that are not on Ancestry, and with no guarantee of a result, so, as you say, it probably means an order of the certificate.
