Re: Any map showing house names, Ullet Road, Sefton Park, 18
Today there is a blue plaque at number 28 for Mr John Brodie, a city engineer. http://www.blueplaqueplaces.co.uk/john- ... 8ayiZgrKUk
But he wasn't there from 1858 to 1934 as the web page says. That was his lifespan.
In the 1899-1900 phone book he's listed at Calder Lodge, 28 Ullet Road.

I was out all yesterday but you have been busy again.
This gets even more complicated and I agree that little faith can be placed in either Messrs Gore's or the enumerators' listings. I shall have to settle, for my own family record, that James Baines lived for a short period of his life at a house in Ullet Road, which may have been the house which has been part of Bellerive School.
A few comments:
*In the 1861 census, no house names or numbers are shown for Ullet Road.
*Allerton Priory Lodge belonged to John G. Morris, brother-in-law of James Baines and who helped him out financially more than once.
*The Eagles brothers are listed in the 1861 and 71 censuses, but in the part of Ullet Road or Lane between Smithdown Road and what is now Sefton Park Road.
*The Braga family, referred to many times in this topic, were from Portugal, and probably gave the name Douro Lodge in memory of their origin. The musical interest shown in the press cutting about the house sale may give a link to a player in the Liverpool Phil orchestra in more modern times, whose wife taught my boys the first stages of piano!
Finally, I lived for a few years within about 200 yards of the area I have been concerned with here, without a clue to those earlier lives. Very many thanks to all who have contributed so much. I think I will now draw the curtain on this one.
