Esther Brookfield - Early Wills

Post by Blue70 »

After reading about early wills in the latest edition of the journal I remembered I have an early probate record for my 6 x Great Grandmother Esther Brookfield who had the Peacock Tavern in Toxteth Park. She died on 25th August 1840 at Park Road Toxteth and the following probate was in the Cheshire Collection:-

If this will has survived would I need to contact Lancashire Record Office at Preston to obtain a copy?

Most of the estate went to Esther's two spinster daughters the only other beneficiary was "Reverend Richard Prest of Aigburth near Liverpool Catholic Priest" who received three pounds. Richard Ambrose Prest had been at St. Peter's in Seel Street and was involved with the founding of St. Austins. Esther must have thought highly of him and his work. He appears to have been an impressive man according to this biography:-

Hi Will,

Have you got the same e-mail address that you had a couple of years ago when I messaged you on Ancestry? If so I've sent you a PDF containing the will. Private message me if you don't receive it.

Regards,
