Looking for Ann Lyon in 1841
Re: Looking for Ann Lyon in 1841
p.s. On the records you found I noted that John went from Cowman to Labourer for a few children then back to Cowman.

So, perhaps some proof that there wasn't a mistake made on the census, the children born out of county could be the children born in Liverpool?
Did he labour for a bricklayer and Ann mistook that for his trade?, we'll never know.

Maybe it sounded a bit posher than Cowman or labourer as she was marrying a man who obviously had high aspirations and was a bit of a high flyer and she wanted to impress him? As you say we'll never know like so many things in this obsessional hobby of ours.Bertieone wrote:So, perhaps some proof that there wasn't a mistake made on the census, the children born out of county could be the children born in Liverpool?

As there is no wife of John on the 1841 census and daughter Ann had moved to Liverpool maybe he moved to be near her and her children, the grand kids, and that's why it says on the newspaper clipping John Lyon late of Toxteth Park not because he was actually OF TP but because that's where he lived when he died.
Thank you so much for this, I do like to tie up loose ends....... When you can.
