St Mary's burial ground, Kirkdale

The Toxteth website have updated their on line records for this cemetery.
The 5th Column has the heading "remarks" In it are two people's names and a number, EG, James and Ann Joiner 24.
For young people or children , I can assume this is their parents and their trade. But my relative Thomas Wharton was buried 1850 and in that column it has "Thomas and Mary warehouseman 18"
Any ideas. Are these his parents , even though he was 58??

Could it be, 18 Eaton St, check who lived there in 1850, perhaps relatives?

The 1837 - 1839 burials have the heading for that column as Parents names followed by Last residence.

Helps identify them, noticed some females buried under their married name and parents names revealing their maiden name, I think.

Could it be they are also in the same grave? perhaps just not yet transcribed

My relative, and Bert's, Richard Howard, died 1859. His parents were Thomas and Winifred, as in column 4. They could not have been buried in the same grave as they died in 1816 and 1832 respectively and were buried at St Chad's, Kirkby. So that does not follow. In 1851 census Richard lived at 25 Maguire St. and his death certificate says he died at 5 Court Maguire St. Whether the courts had other numbers as well, I do not know. Looking through the numbers, the highest number is 31. House numbers would have higher numbers than this. Any other ideas?? Or shall I e mail the web site?

Our advice is always to check the originals rather than accepting what has been transcribed. This is no less important for this website as for say Ancestry or Findmypast. You may find that the information you have gleaned from a transcription might have a different meaning when seen in context.

Does the Liverpool & SW Lancs family history society have a hand in any transcribing as there doesn't seem to be very much to buy on the website shop?

I can't access the original so I am afraid I have to rely on info on line or through a researcher at the records offices. Thanks I will keep you updated.

The records are held at the Record Office, if a member of the Society is assisting with this it is as a personal project.

I just did a search using the word "burial" and found 166 entries.

"Having problems with the server, it’s not uploading certain years, had to change servers as the cost was too prohibitive. Hoping to sort it out once and for all.
Concerning numbers 1 to 31. I think this refers to the date of each month money was paid to the vicar for the burial of each individual.

Very quick reply. Should have thought that if it was 1 to 31 it would be days on the month. Silly me.
