Ward

Post by batman »

Hi
I'm looking for any information about Leonard David Ward Taylor who was born in Litherland about 1906.That is the name he was called by.
He was adopted and this name appears on the 1911 census living in Melling,Lancashire, living with his adoptive parents.I suspect he was originally called either Leonard Ward or David Ward.
Thanks
Kev

Is it possible?

Manchester area where William records on his marriage cert, a Leonard Ward is registered, June Qtr 1907,

WARD Leonard Manchester 8d 244

Edit, It's likely that this child is with another family in 1911.

Www.lancashirebmd.org.uk shows a David Ward born 1905 registered in the Litherland sub district under South Sefton. Then it would have been West Derby. The South Sefton births on the sire gives the mother's maiden name and for this David Ward no maiden name is given so the child would be illegitimate so it's possible this is the child who was then adopted.

Unfortunately the Adoption Act wasn't until 1926, prior to that there was no official records.
