Who did Robert Wright marry?

Post by hatton65 »

Robert was born in 1812 in Huyton and died 18 Sept 1874 in Widnes. He lived in Widnes on all the early census and his wife was Sarah born in Widnes in 1811. I have looked on all the parish records I can possibly think of and cannot find out Sarah's surname. Their eldest child was born in 1829 - George Wright - so I presume they married around this time, they were both very young When George was born Robert was 16 and Sarah was 17 . Robert's father was Richard and his mother was Hannah Sale.

I would apprieciate if anyone can help

Thanks Andrea

In the 1841 census, if I have the correct family, there are a number of children, including Mary born in 1838, with in the 1851 census, luckily, an additional child - Hannah, born approximately 1841.

These two are after the beginning of civil registration and you should be able to get a birth certificate for at least Hannah.

The Lancashire Online Parish Clerk site has this baptism for her
Baptism: 14 Nov 1841 St Wilfrid, Farnworth near Prescot, Lancashire, England
Hannah Wright - Daughter of Robert Wright & Sarah
Abode: Widnes
Occupation: Labourer
Baptised by: John Leach - curate
Register: Baptisms 1828 - 1842, Page 187, Entry 1490
Source: LDS Film 1655234 item 5

Freebmd has this birth
Births Dec 1841
Wright Hannah Prescot 20 639

But do stipulate that the parents MUST be Robert and Sarah when ordering. This will give you her maiden name.

Thank you Mary for your quick reply, I think that would be the best bet to order a birth certificate for Hannah.

I will do that early next week just in case I get any other reply's

I just thought I would give an update on who Robert Wright did marry.

I ordered the birth cert for Hannah (thank you Mary) and it confirmed that Sarah Wright - formally Sarah Hunt, Hannah was born in Widnes on the 27 October 1841 which is correct as everything else fits in.

Thank you so much for your help Mary it has completed this particular tree for me now

Thank you Andrea
