I have also come across this record:
Ireland, Births and Baptisms
Name: Margaret Giblin
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 15 Aug 1868
Birth Place: Gurteen, Sligo, Ireland
Father's Name: Roger Giblin
Mother's name: Bridget Harhan
FHL Film Number: 101173

I presume that Gurteen is in the right area?

Having now seen the death certificates, I am quite convinced that the Roger
and Bridget shown below are my ancestors:

Transcriptions:
1891 Deaths Registered in the District of Gurteen in the Union of Boyle in the County of Sligo:
1) 5 Dec 1891 at Hogfield, Roger Giblin, Male, Widower, 68 years, Farmer, Cause: debility, Signature: James Doohan.
2) 13 Dec 1890 at Hogfield, Bridget Giblin, Female, Married, 65 years, Wife of Roger Giblin, Farmer, Cause: dropsy, Signature John Regan.

So they would have been born circa 1823-1825, consistent with children being born around
1852-1866.

I'm wondering if Hogfield was the name of the farm or the village.

Haven't found it yet but a google search for that address, Hogfield, Monasteraden, Sligo gave a hit here: http://www.ireland-genealogy.com/view_c ... e-348.html

Monasteraden is a small village close to Loch Gara on the border between counties Sligo and Roscommon, west of Boyle. The Hogsfield could refer to Tawnymucklagh, which as in my earlier post is the anglicised version of the original Irish Thamhnaigh na Muclach. The first word means an 'arable place or field'. Na = of and Muclagh = swine or pigs. By the 1890s it could have become completely anglicised.

A search on Google Earth for Monasteraden, Co Sligo, Ireland will take you straight to it.
