Brennan Deaths

Post by sophia »

I am trying to find the death of a Catherine Brennan and John Brennan both born 1834 Ireland, it has been aweful difficult and frustrating, they are at at Marlborough St. on the 1891 Census along with their three children. I have checked the Poll book records at the library and they are at the same address until 1899/1890 and do not appear on the 1901 Census. In between 1881 and 1891 their daughter passed away and the two son's married.

I have all the deaths listed of both names and have narrowed it down to what I can. The death cert. I have is not the Catherine I want. I have even ordered a search at the G.R.O. and they have sent me the same wrong cert. It is one I already have. This is for a Catherine Brennan who lives in Banastre St. with her husband John.

There is a death for a John Brennan 1902 at Standish St. As this is located near Marlborough St. I thought this might be a possibility. Is there anyone who is going the Library could possibly look up in the poll records for John Brennan at Standish St. to see if it states his previous address. If I find one spouse it might give me a more precise timeline for each of the deaths. The name is spelt different on various documents.

Much Appreciated

As RF153 Ford Cemetery seems to be a private grave it might make sense to check who else is buried in the same plot and who owns it.

Will have a look tomorrow.

Hi,

I have just realized I said that the Brennan's were at Marlborough Street, until the 1891 Census, it should be the 1881 Census I checked the Poll Books and they were still at the same address until 1889/1890

Thank You.

Due to the time difference you may not reply to this before I go but I'm wondering if the religion was RC then there is more of a chance that they are in Ford.

I had wondered about this one
John Brennan abt 1832 12 Feb 1899 Ford Cemetery age 67 B2438 (probably a general grave) Address given as the Workhouse.

Is the certificate you already have the one for Catherine buried 6 June 1886 age 54, 19Ct Addison, grave 1851 - again probably a general one, or for Catherine buried 29 November, 1897 age 60 of 21 Athol Street, grave B2136

What date did the daughter Catherine die and where is she buried?

Hi Mary A.

Thank you for checking the death's, yes they were R.C. and their daughter was buried at Ford. She died age 26 in July 1888 and is buried in Ford but it is Sec. SV 2450 Public. I do not think her parent's Catherine and John would be in a private grave.

I have the certificate for Athol St. I really thought that was the one as her daughter's mother in law lived in that street, but it is the wrong one. Then I have a couple of certificates for the Catherine Brennan who died in 1889 at Banastre St. V.8bp44. That is wrong .

I am not sure regarding the Feb 1899 for John Brennan as he is down on the Poll Books 1889/1890 for the address at Marlborough st.

Thanks again

Thanks Mary A,

No that is not the John Brennan, but at least it tells me that the one in Standish Street is not mine, so it eliminates another on on the list.

So I am at least getting nearer.

Thank you for all your efforts.
