If you can find an entry for her in the Family Notices section of the Liverpool Echo newspaper then you should get the date of burial and the cemetery from that.

You should then be able to do a lookup in the relevant burial register (also held at William Brown Street) and, hopefully, get her grave number.

After that it may be worth getting in touch with Allerton Lodge who should be able to tell you who else is in the grave - although they may charge for that.

They kindly passed me the burial register reference numbers for free for my father's grave, but I then had to go to William Brown Street and look the entries up myself in the relevant register.

Thanks for the suggestion about Allerton Lodge, steveflan. I'm hoping I get lucky with the obituaries so I can find the grave easily enough.

Just to add to Steve's useful hint - try to be as sure as possible of the cemetery and it will be very good if you have the exact date of death, because Allerton Cemetery Lodge charge for a search - £10 per year, per cemetery.

Well, folks: this search has had a happy ending. By using the online BMD index to track their kids, I was able to track a living grandchild of Julia and Thomas who lives in Sheffield. We have been in touch, and she has informed me that Julia is buried in the grounds of a Catholic church in Liverpool. Glad I found this out before paying for a grave search!

Anyway, just want to say thanks again for all the help and pieces of advice. Do let me know if there are ever any Belfast genealogical questions I can help with, whether it's directories lookups, grave searches, obituary lookups, address photos, or anything else.
