Landseer Road

Post by Matty50 »

I have traced relatives in the 1911 census living at 62 Lansdeer Road, Everton. John Evan and Elizabeth Edwards. They were married at church of St. Benedict, Everton 27 Sept 1904. I believe they had a grocer shop but I'm not sure where. John died 11 September 1933 and is buried in Anfield cemetery with his brother (1907) and wife (1971) . Can anyone help with further information please?

For the crew....
Deaths Sep 1933: Edwards, John E [62] - Stourbridge 6c 45
[Stourbridge spans the boundaries of the counties of Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire]

Marriages Sep 1904: Edwards, John Evan [bn abt 1872] and Hughes, Elizabeth [bn abt 1878] - W. Derby 8b 588

There were no children reported as born to this marriage in 1911 and unfortunately there are many Edwards nee Hughes births.

If you don't already have the death certs for John and Elizabeth the names of the respective informants of their deaths might indicate a child was born to the couple.

Hi
Thank you for that.

They did not have any children. Elizabeth went on to marry again 3 years after the death of John and died at the age of 94 in north wales. I cannot trace where they ran a shop.

If you haven't aldready done so, it might be worth obtaining a copy of his will to see if there are any clues in that.

Perhaps it would be worth posting a new topic asking for trade directory look-ups from 1911 looking for John Evan Edwards, grocer?

A typo? That 1911 address you posted should read 61 Landseer Road. From this map, http://www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co. ... z/km46.htm Centre abt an inch from the bottom running horizontally, I believe it is very likely the address was also a shop.

I meant to say "trade directory look-ups from 1911 and later"!

Thanks for pointing out the typo DS, it's quite important to get the correct spelling of a name when asking for a directory look up, so I have amended the heading on the top line.
