I am trying to find out about a Miss Daisy Hampson – early lady motorist who must have been wealthy as she had many cars which she raced.
During her life she owned Lanchesters, Fiats, Mercedes & Rolls-Royce cars which she toured Europe in & raced at Blackpool, Brighton & Southport.
Daisy may have been a family name she could be called Margaret / Maragita etc.
I have some dates & addresses for her which she live in the Liverpool area:
1922 Hillside, Gateacre, Nr Southport
1932 2 Princes Park Mansions Croxteth Rd Livepool – until her death in 1937
I do hope you can help or have some suggestions. Her paramour / chauffeur / companion was a George Ward who is related to Octavia Ward of the Lanchester Motor Family.
Any help in tracking her or her family would be great. I have a couple of photos of her & a note of various paper articles.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Some of our members may have directories they can check to see if there are any entries relating to her.
Can you tell us where you got this entry from as the places seem contradictory

Re: Hampson family
If you have the address she was living at her death correct then her name wasn't Margaret. Probate -
HAMPSON Mary Jane of 2 Princes Park Mansions, Liverpool spinster died 27 September 1937 at the Colwyn Bay Hotel Colwyn Bay Denbighshire. Probate Manchester 26 November to Edith Merchant spinster and Albert Edward Henry Blackburn pharmaceutical chemist. Effects £85268 19s 11d.
I'm curious to know what your interest is in the lady.

Re: Hampson family
Hi
The information is from a set of chassis cards relating to a Rolls-ROyce that she owned.
They are quite notorious for getting the records slightly incorrect in the early days.
I was asked to help research who she was as being an early motorist her life must have been fascinating. It does seem as if she could be Mary Hampson from what you say. It certainly give me another avenue to research.

Re: Hampson family
Based on the information given in the Probate record..
Death: HAMPSON, Mary J
Registration district: Aled, Denbighshire
Year of registration: 1937; Sep qtr
Age at death: 56
Volume no: 11B; Page no: 338
Based on her age at death...
Birth: HAMPSON, Mary Jane
Registration district: West Derby, Lancashire
Year of registration: 1880; Sep qtr
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 202
Despite her being a spinster at death [no surname changes], I haven't yet found her in any England or Wales census. She was certainly a lady of means... her estate at Probate would have been worth £3,153,247.47 in 2005!
