Hi Katie,
Strange the way a little snippet can catch the eye and provoke interest....
The item concerning Pvt Parton made me wonder if he survived the war. An Australian R Parton was killed in July 1916, so because the item is dated 1917 I hope he made it through to meet his Liverpool relatives.

I am John's direct descendant g,g grandson.
i am intrigued if this really is there brother? did he post in the newspaper that he wanted to know their whereabouts?
In 1891 census - in fact post 1881 I cannot find him at all. His brother and sister yes. I was under the impression that he has died?

Hi and welcome to the forum. Thank you for adding to this post, however Katie posts "Strays" that she comes across during her monumental task of indexing all entries of soldiers wounded or lost from the newspapers. I'm sure she will be able to check her database to see if there is any further mention, but the original post was picked up from the newspaper entry.

I can find no evidence that he had died. May need to consult other records to see what happened to him. He was baptised twice C of E and Catholic.stephenb2684 wrote:BEDDOWS:- Wanted to know the whereabouts of John and Ellen Beddows, formerly of Athol Street, Liverpool. Inquirer their brother R. Re: Missing Friends-Updated 15th April 2012
I thought I would do a little research into Robert and find out what happened to him. I have Mary and her 3 children recorded in Liverpool Workhouse several times from 1880-1885. The last entry was for the 3 Children John, Robert and Ellen Beddoes being admitted to Liverpool Workhouse 6th May 1885 as having been found on Scotland Road. The address at this time was 6/4 Newsham Street. They are all recorded as being Roman Catholic. The children were all sent to Kirkdale Industrial School.I looked up their entry in the Admission and discharge register for Kirkdale and there was no discharge date. I will follow it up when I next go the Archives.
