I have just been browsing St Peter's church, Everton in 1874 and came across this adoption. Might be useful for somebody, I was going to put it in Strays but I don't think that is right? Please move or delete if necessary.


X Born 3rd July 1873. Baptised 6th February 1874, Margaret Woods, parents Josiah & Elizabeth Woods, 2 Cheapside, Public House Manager.

X Mr Thompson, 76 Gt Homer Street, adopts this child.

of no use to me even though I do have some Woods. But it is very interesting and thanks for posting.

That's a very rare occurrence for it to be noted in the Parish Register, good find.

Please transcribe it on your post so that any bots might pick it up in the searches.
