Have you got the death certificate? The coroner provides the information for the death certificate if there's been an inquest.

Blue
I haven't. I didn't know that about the coroner. Thanks!

You could try British Newspaper Archive ... try getting permission to view the inquest papers.

Blue
Thanks Blue, I wasn't aware of any of that.

Fatal accident, Walton, 1950s...

My granddad, Thomas George Hampson, was killed by a vehicle [car/lorry?] on the 20th of December 1958 in the Walton/Kirkdale area. The driver was never traced. Would there have been much traffic on the roads in those days? Also, would this have been a 'newsworthy' incident? Reported in the Liverpool...

Finding a Residence...

I've managed to trace one of my relatives back to the mid-1700s [Thomas Hampson], he married Mary Spencer in 1788 at St. James, Toxteth. They had thirteen children, all of them were baptised at the Parochial Chapel of Kirkby, Walton, Lancashire. Thomas is recorded as a gardener/labourer. I would ima...

Re: Ooh dat pesky Rosalina!

Did you ever find out what happened to the parents too? I can't see them on the later censii but will have more a look later. Maybe they all moved abroad, good chance they will have stayed together as she would be 18 in 1891. Rosalina is from my mum's mum's side of the family. Her parents may possi...

Re: Ooh dat pesky Rosalina!

Hi, haven't had time to look yet but thought I'd just ask the question - is it the birth certificate that you have Rosalina from as this is not usually in Latin, I'm suspecting this is a baptism entry from an RC church, which priests usually do enter in Latin and in which case in other records we s...

Ooh dat pesky Rosalina!

Rosalina Scott is still my mystery girl, she was born on the 24th of August 1872 in Liverpool to Daniel & Catherine Scott [Walsh]. She can be found on the 1881 Census [aged 9] at 6 Ivy Terrace, Burnet Street, Liverpool, recorded as 'Rosalind', but she was definitely 'Rosalina' - according to her bir...

Many thanks, MaryA, bertieone, and retiringtype. Gosh, those enumerators must have been squiffy when they were doing their thing, hey ho. Thanks for the images too - great stuff!

Address Query...

William Hampson, from the 1881 Census, was working as a general servant at 109, High Street, Wavertree, West Derby, Lancashire. Other people at this address have job titles that suggest the property may have been a hotel. Would it be possible for one of the nice peeps here who have access to those D...

Re: Rosalina Scott b 1872

I am pretty sure that the Catherine Gill in Burdet Street in 1891 and 1901 is your Catherine/Kate Scott born circa 1861. The age is correct in 1891 but 10 years out in 1901 - possibly a transcription error by the enumerator. The 1888 Catherine Scott/Thomas Gill marriage is on FamilySearch. Her fath...

Re: Rosalina Scott b 1872

3 House in 4 Court, Burnet Street in the 1901 census was occupied by Catherine Boyd, 32, and her children, and also a John Whyte & family. However 1 House in 4 Court was occupied by Catherine Gill, 30 , and her children Daniel 14, Rose A, 12, Winifred 8, Michael 4 and John 2. The 1891 census shows ...

Re: Rosalina Scott b 1872

The image I assume is the marriage of Rosalina's sister, Elizabeth. Charles Wilson/Elizabeth Scott, St Sylvester, 1901. Elizabeth and Charles both gave Burnet St as their address, I suspect Charles gave that address for the Banns. His mother, Jane Wilson lived at 49 Gordon St, 1901 census, RG13 P34...

Re: Rosalina Scott b 1872

The tree on Ancestry is owned by Paul Bettey and he seems to have traced Robert Scott's descendants. Not sure if you can see that if you can access Ancestry. He doesn't seem to have found out later census for the Scott family either. The marriage of Daniel and Catherine is also on Ancestry. Cheers ...

Re: Rosalina Scott b 1872

Do you know what became of father Daniel Scott? He seems to be born in Naples in some records, Marseilles in the 1881 census Not yet, as you say he doesn't appear to know when, where or even what country he was born in! I suspect Daniel may have been a bit of a fantasist, or maybe he was overly fon...
