Re: "The parish Church" 1842 St Nicholas or St Peter's?
Thanks for the link. I had read there was a cross to mark the position of the demolished church but hadn't seen it.

Re: "The parish Church" 1842 St Nicholas or St Peter's?
Thanks very much to you all for the helpful suggestions and thanks for looking up the vicar and trying to work it out from that angle, which I have to confess I hadn't thought of. A bit confusing! I suppose the evidence suggests it is likely that the online records are correct and the parish church ...

"The parish Church" 1842 St Nicholas or St Peter's?
I'm having difficulty with a marriage certificate stating that a marriage took place in "The Parish Church of Liverpool" in 1842. Some years ago, before the records were on line, I thought I had decided this meant St Nicholas, but now, having looked on-line, I see that Family Search and Ancestry hav...

St Chad's Kirkby - graves website
Does anybody know what has happened to the excellent St Chad's Kirkby website, with grave transcriptions and photos done by Rosalind Lloyd? I hadn't tried to view it for ages but can't find anything now.

Merchant Navy training -college?
Does anyone know where there was a college in Liverpool in the last half of the 19th century, where it was possible to study for Master and Mate certificates for the Merchant Navy, please? I understand there would have been one as exams bcame compulsory after about 1860. It was a picture in a family...

Re: BLUNDELL of Halsall
Not what you were asking, but my ancestor married a Richard Barton Blundell in 1906, father John Blundell, at St Philip's Church Litherland. Any link with yours?

Re: Melling graves
Thank you very much for going to all this trouble, Lynne. Glad you got your computer working properly. There are plenty of Rushtons in there, so it's really helpful. I think it's got to be worth getting the CD and a visit to the graveyard sometime. I love the possible fine for opening the grave - I ...

Re: Melling graves
Thank you very much for your replies. I had already looked at the OPC burials and I know there are a few of my Rushtons buried there. I didn't know about the CD but I'll buy it if there are any gravestones for Rushton on it, so thanks for your offer, Lynne; would you mind having a look, in particula...

Melling graves
Does anyone know anything about Melling (by Maghull) graves? Does the churchyard have many 18th or 19th century graves or have they been cleared? I've looked on Google maps and there appear to be some graves round the church but it's difficult to see how many. ( I've no idea whether my ancestors had...
