As Mary has said, the number could mean the number of weeks or days the patient had the condition. On my gg grandad's death cert it has 3 weeks, he had stood on a rusty nail at work, and died in The Southern hospital Toxteth 3 weeks later of tetanus. In the census the same year as the directory, Mr Glynn is at Sefton House, he is listed under Dashper Edward Glynn. He died in 1918 at the same address.

A lot of the houses in that area are very big houses, a lot are converted into flats etc.
