Hi Bertieone
Thank you for the information. Wish I had logged in earlier, I was in Birkenhead this morning and could have taken a photo. Never mind... next time.

Old Post Boxes of Liverpool
I understand that Liverpool has two of the oldest post boxes in the country. Does anyone know where they are, as when I am next in Liverpool I would like to take photographs? Are either recorded on line? I would also be grateful to hear about any other unsual examples of post boxes in and around the...

Hi Daggers
Thought I hadn't seen you at the French Open. Guess Wimbledon is out this year.
Has Rafa been on for the name of your surgeon?
All the best. Once the knee has healed, you will feel like a new person. There's a joke in there somewhere!
Take care

Hi Hilary
Gosh, your post stirred many happy memories.
Many years ago, Sylvia Harrop was one of my tutors at Liverpool University.
She was wonderful and any factual evidence had to have a reference.
So I am sure you are spot on Hilary.

Re: How do you store your family history?
Thank goodness to find out that I am in the company of like minded souls. Thought the world had gone technology mad and that everything was 'out there' on the internet! Glad to know that 'ring binders' and 'box files' still form a large part of other people's family history. You can't beat a paper r...
Re: Australia
Thinking of you all down-under during this traumatic time. Goodness knows how we would manage in this country - a spot of ice or freezing fog and the everything grinds to a halt!! Oh I see it has just started snowing here this should be interesting.

Question for the Education Officer please:
Can you tell me where is the 'World Museum Floor 2'?
Is it a department within the museum?
Thanks

Re: Scouse sayings
My grandma in Old Swan always referred to her kitchen as 'the back kitchen'. When I was a child my mother used the same term for our kitchen which wasn't even at the back of the house. We also had an 'out house' which was in fact a brick built extention to the house. The term 'cock loft' was also us...

Re: Central Station, Liverpool and other Reminiscences
Yes Daggers it was - in the late 1970's. On the website http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/sites.shtml which Erika told us about earlier there is a whole section about the project. Its an excellent website packed with information. Well worth a read.

Re: Central Station, Liverpool and other Reminiscences
OK here's another train question. Does anyone remember any places in the city centre where they were aware of the rumbling of the underground trains? I remember one spot in Dale Street, near Moorfields. I know of someone who studied at Liverpool Poly in Byrom Street. She was able to tell the time be...

Re: Central Station, Liverpool
Took your suggestion Daggers and found an advertisement for Reeces. It listed numerous cafes in Liverpool city centre, one being the Lyceum Cafeat 1 Bold Street. So if the numbering of Bold Street started from the city centre and went up Bold Street, then 'that's the one'>.
Thanks
