Trying to my sister-in-law,Elizabeth Ann Bowie,born Birkenhead 1950 went to USA late 1970's.
Last address living in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1900 there was a pub at 376 Scotland rd called the Europa.One of about 70 pubs in Scotland rd. There is a publication called Scotland Road. DS & Bert thanks for help re above.The reference to James A Bowie solved another puzzle.He is my father-in-law,long since dead.He lived for a few years in the US but we did not know when he arrived there.Well we do now,thanks to Bert.

I'm having trouble finding the marriage of Agnes Bowie b Paisley Scotland 1887 to George S Griffiths b 1886 Marple Cheshire.It would be between 1911 & 1939. Blue,What a puzzle,Ritchie/Rider.I,ll go to our local library and see if I can access the Rider history.I have a feeling that the family trees are not available for free.May have to join Ancestry.

Just realised I missed a bit of info out.
New York county marriages 1908-1935 show Samuel C Ritchie b Scotland Marrying Helen M Bowie 13th May 1914.This is definitely correct.

Many thanks to Blue,Bert DS,re above.Family story says Samuel C Ritchie was born in Pennsylvania but I am sure it is wrong.The 1930 census is the right family.It shows James A Bowie( father -in-law) age 32 b geogia. Hi from New Zealand,hope all your storms have abated.

Samuel C Ritchie b 1871 Scotland arrived USA c 1876 parents Moses R & Sarah Ritchie.

I cannot find them on any census for Scotland.
Can anyone help,also is it possible to find out where they arrived in the US ?

Many thanks to Bert & DS.Yes this is the plant family on 1895 BA census.The boy W H Plant has confused things a bit.It's never straight forward. I'd have he would have gone back with his Dad.

Thomas Alfred Plant b 1861 Liverpool joined royal navy 1897 retired ashore 1906.all docs describe him as engine room articifer.Family story says he retired as a commander.my question would an engine room articifer ever be made upto commander? seems a big jump to me.

I have a gt uncle Sidney Herbert Plant who settled in Buenos Aries c 1886 ,married in 1890 had 2 sons william b1892 & Alfred b1894. Sidney h was b 1864 in Liverpool.
How can I find more info on him & his family?
