Re: London Cemeteries?
Thanks everyone for the responses and tips. James' home address per his death certificate was 45 Shepherd Bush rd., Hammersmith. I have an article from The Times of 8 October 1900 and a report on the Coroner's findings also in The Times of 11 October. I might put in a search request to Kensal Green ...

London Cemeteries?
Hi everyone A relative of mine, James Watts Field, was killed in an accident at the age of 25 on the then new underground at Marble Arch on 6 October 1900. He was a guard on the railway and was on a "working holiday" from Australia. The accident seemed to receive quite a bit of publicity at the time...

Re: Family Higgins -Lowton/Pennington & greetings from Melbo
Hi Simone You are right about Clementine of course. The 1841 census shows her as being 10 months old I think. Census night being June 6 means she must have been born around August, as you say. Oh well, another irrelevant certificate to add to my collection!! I'm starting to wonder about Mary Field's...

Re: Family Higgins -Lowton/Pennington & greetings from Melbo
More great suggestions, thank you. Yes there are a lot of infant Fields/Boardmans. It is astonishing and heart breaking to see the levels of infant mortality at the time. I've turned up a Clementine Field, born in Bolton in 1840. I've ordered her birth cert. to see if it has any relevant info. Inter...

Re: Family Higgins -Lowton/Pennington & greetings from Melbo
Wow, thanks to all for the further suggestions/comments! A few things to think about and investigate further there. Simone - thanks for suggesting a Daly connection, had not twigged to that one. The fact that there are not many other Fields around in the area at the time does tend to suggest that Ma...

Re: Family Higgins -Lowton/Pennington & greetings from Melbo
Thanks everyone for the responses! I will try to add some further details - I believe the June 1840 death recorded in Lowton is the correct one for Mary Field; according to the certificate she was aged 40 at death. We know about James Boardman only because he is cited as John Field's father on John'...

Family Higgins -Lowton/Pennington & greetings from Melbourne
Hi everyone I'm new to this forum so thought I would introduce myself. My GG Grandfather, John Field, was born in Leigh in 1836 and migrated to South Australia in 1855. Whilst we know a lot about our family's history since that time, we know little or nothing about John Field's family history in Eng...
