Re: A visitor seeking guidance!
Hi I am a member of the Southport Group of the Society we hold help desks at Crosby Library on the 1st and 3rd Friday mornings of the month. Crosby Library would be a good place to start they have quite a lot of family and local records available for searching. Lots of local old photographs of the a...

Re: Ancestry in Libraries
We had Ancestry in Crosby Library for the Help Desk on Friday and as far as I'm aware Ancestry was accessible at The Atkinson for help desk on Saturday so maybe not Sefton, is it just Liverpool?

Re: William Thomas Walker
Hi
It looks as though Lincolnshire Library services have access to Ancestry and Findmypast websites so if you live near a library you could go in and use your library to access both the above websites (and the British Newspaper Archives).

Re: The Genealogist Gold Subscription
The way i've done it is to export from an older version to gedcom then open up in newer version. So open up 2006 and export your family file into a gedcom file. This will then be saved to your computer. Then open up 2014 and open tree from the gedcom and that should work. Hope this makes sense, it's...

Re: windows 10
Yes, if you do as Mary says and have your tree data backed up on something else your data will never disappear! It sounds as though people's problems have only been with getting the program to open on Windows 10 your data isn't effected by this other than not being able to get the program open to vi...

Re: windows 10
Hi Mary asked me to reply as I'm a FTM user but I haven't upgraded my laptop to windows 10 as yet! So am afraid I can't answer :? although I have done a google search - "family tree maker 2014 to windows 10" that a lot of people have been having problems opening FTM after installation. Might be as w...

Re: The Genealogist Gold Subscription
I think, from what I can remember! There were a lot of things about 2010 that regular FTM users didn't like so when 2014 came in they put a lot of the missing things back in. If you're asking about the trees to be printed out there are lots of different ones to choose from. There is some further inf...

Re: The Genealogist Gold Subscription
Hi I have upgraded my Family Tree Maker to 2014 from 2010 and use that regularly. Didn't like 2010 that much but find 2014 better. I would have thought that you should be still able to use Family Tree Maker 2006 as a program by itself, what I think they mean is that you can't search Ancestry through...

yes the record was part of their Criminal Registers collection. Will send attachment to you in a pm, haven't posted picture on board as yet and might take me too long to figure out!! Don't know about the ages, you have thought if they were younger they wouldn't want to add any more years in case the...

Re: Emma Hadfield any tips or tricks?
There is a record of an Emma Hatfield being tried and imprisoned for 6 months in 1846 and gives her age as 20 if the '41 is right she should only of been about 14. Although can't find her in another Criminal Register that has her being transported. Maybe this isn't the right one!

Re: Is this the same person?
There also appears to be a further 2 children baptised at St Vincents to John and Mary Ann John 17 feb 1884 24 Feb 1884 Elizabeth 13 feb 1886 22 feb 1886 Are these also related to Mary Ann? May help to try and find the family in the census, also try searching the census without the surname just in c...

Re: Ancestry Family Tree Printout
Hi Gareth I'm presuming you are using the printer friendly button which opens the tree into A4 pages and then your trying to print further generations it duplicates some individuals? I have had a look and I can't see an option of opening whole tree then printing that off, but as dickiesam says depen...

Re: Anything but A.
Hi Just had a look at my tree on Ancestry and if you open your tree and look for tree pages link next to the name of your tree this brings down a menu choose Tree Settings. Then on the right of the page there is a green button that says Save as a gedcom and then download gedcom. This saves the gedco...

Re: Liverpool general geneology
Also if you haven't got access to Ancestry there is also the following which is a free website. www.lan-opc.org.uk Lancashire Online Parish Clerk website for Parish Register transcriptions. It is volunteer based so isn't a complete record of all parish registers but does have quite a few for Liverpo...
