Thank you Barbara. I will try to put it into a narrative that could go into the journal.

Re: Invaleed on baptism record
Yes. Witness names can be very informative and intriguing. My great great great grandmother, Ann Hurst, was born St Peter's, Thanet, 1785. A witness to her marriage in 1813, was an E C Norwood. The Thanet Norwoods were related to the Hursts. On the opposite page of the same birth register for 1785 i...

So true, Barbara. Sometimes you follow up a hunch then you think: "How did I know that?" Guidance from above?

Re: Invaleed on baptism record
Thanks Barbara,
I do have an annual subscription to Findmypast. Never thought of looking at county records yet. Too many ancestors jostling me for priority!

Re: Invaleed on baptism record
Thanks Bert. I thought of that too but then I thought it may have been an obscure legal term.

Invaleed on baptism record
Good evening. I have a copy of a baptism in Chester in 1759. After the father's name is the word "Invaleed". Does anyone know what this may mean? It reads "Williame son to Matthew Buchanan Invaleed & his wife Mary was baptised the 24th day of".

Re: Private Michael Barbosa Roll of Honour Liverpool Town Ha
Thanks Bert and Mary. I believe that there are descendants of John or Joāo, the father, from his second wife, in the Birmingham area. I contacted one by e-mail but got no response. I'll probably need to write a couple of letters.

Re: Private Michael Barbosa Roll of Honour Liverpool Town Ha
My sincere apologies to Bertieone and MaryA as I must have had some kind of brainstorm and did not follow up this topic on this forum. With the generous help of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment Facebook group and the Salford War Memorials website, I managed to piece together the stories of these ...

Who owned the 19th century boarding houses
In 19th century census records I have located ancestors and ancestral relatives living in boarding houses. Some are even described as "boarding house keeper". My question is, would the boarding house keeper have owned or rented the property? Either way, how would I go about finding who actually owne...

Re: Lighthouses or lightships, Liverpool 18th Century
Bingo! On London Metropolitan Archives website. I did a search on Gabriel Ford and found references to two Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance Group policies with Gabriel Ford as the name insured. One for November 1810 with a property in Broadstairs, Kent, mentioned. This fits in with information I alr...

Re: Lighthouses or lightships, Liverpool 18th Century
Thank you Mary. I had a look at Trinity House website and most of their archive, including almspeople/pensioners are held by London Metropolitan Archives so I'll check with them first. Will post any information I receive as others may also be interested. Daggers, you were correct. Trinity House ligh...

Re: Lighthouses or lightships, Liverpool 18th Century
I haven't asked Trinity House yet. I might give it a go. Of course, there's always the chance that he arrived here as a mariner as described on the marriage record and joined Trinity House later. I thought there may have been some local records. Thanks for your advice.

Lighthouses or lightships, Liverpool 18th Century
Good afternoon, I've recently discovered the marriage on 30 March1795 of my 4th great aunt, Sarah Winn, to Gabriel Ford, mariner both of the parish of Liverpool. Further research showed that Gabriel was born in Thanet, Kent in 1770 and died at the Trinity House alms house, Deptford in 1847, both he ...

Yes Mary. I will be there as I have a question about one of my family who was in the King's.
