Hi!
Could anybody help me to find out, where the family lived after their marriage resp. if and where they possilby died? No results in BMD and GRO-Index / Ancestry.

This is about

Doris Luise Erna nee Sojka, born 1928 in Berlin/Germany and her husband
Peter Vipond Bainbridge, born IV. quarter of 1926 in Kendal/Cumberland - son of John Bainbridge, bank manager-.
They got married 1952 in Liverpool.
His address in 1952: Mostyn House, Parkgate
Her address in 1952: Mather Ave Liverpool I8

In 1955 kellys liverpool and districts - no one of this name - found out by Doedoe.
In 1962 Liverpool & Surrounding Area - only one person without initial: Mrs. Bainbridge 2 Deane Rd Lpool 7 - found out by Colette.
Again, thanks both!

Assuming no directory will be online after marriage, any other central register existing f.i.?

There are two other later marriages of "Peter V. Bainbridge" on Ancestry:
II.1959 in Durham Western/Durham with "Juler" and
IV.1982 in Manchester/Lancashire with "Marchant".

How could I find out, whether the above mentioned Doris L.E. Bainbridge nee Sojka got divorce and when, except I would order the other marriage certs?

What to do? Thanks a lot!

If anybody is able and willing to assist, might I please ask that any responses are passed by private message so information regarding living people are not published in open forum.

You might find it useful to post a "looking for" request on the Liverpool Echo forum www.icliverpool.co.uk.

PS As there is a child to the 1982 marriage, I would suspect that this Peter V is not the same person as the original one you are looking for.

MaryA,
thank you for your advise, I'll keep in mind.
Regarding the link to the Liverpool Echo forum, I havn't known this. Thank you!
That was a good idea to check the BOD after 1982. At least, there is only one more Peter V. marriage cert. to check! Thanks for your time!
My best wishes to you.

Mostyn House Parkgate was and is the home of Mostyn House School. Was your man a teacher? If so could he possibly the PV Bainbridge that appears in the telephone directories in the 1950s in Sunderland, then in the 1960s in Ripponden and then I think it was Lancaster you'd have to check it.

I don't know if the Liverpool directories would have covered Parkgate in the earlt 1950s but as he gave his address as Mostyn House he may have lived in the school.

Good Morning Ed Officer,
As his rank or profession there is mentioned: Preparatory School Master with Condition: Bachelor. Yes, you'r possibly right! Thanks! I thought it would be a rank. I will try with Lancaster now.

Please my other question again: Is there a "Civil Bureau of Registration" within a city or district?

Thanks a lot!

By "Civil Bureau of Registration" I'm assuming you mean Register Office or Registration District.

Within the general Liverpool area there used to be three, West Derby, Liverpool and Toxteth. Later this was split and generally became Liverpool North and South.

These records - births, marriages and deaths - would be held nowadays at the Liverpool Register Office which is in Cotton Exchange, Old Hall Street, Liverpool but if you order a certificate from them there is quite a delay in delivery, which is why we usually recommend the GRO service that takes on average about 10 days, but you need the reference from the indexes for this.

Very Happy

The school has a website, perhaps if you contact them they may have records of past teachers etc.

Hi MaryA,
thank you for your explanation of this office to give me a direction. However, I've thought about something like "Registery of address office" or "Residents gegistration office", where the people have to go when they moved to mention their new address.
Now, I've learned that there is no such institution in GB.
But you need to register whithin Electoral Rolls e.g. Are they official papers for public viewing/ where to find them?

Electoral rolls are held in the local government area in which someone lived or lives. There is on official central governmental roll of Electors.

There are some websites that for a fee you can search for an address of someone. Some also have a partial free search. I think 192.com is one but not sure no doubt someone else will know. However I think most want an address or at least a place to search.
